Aurora Lace Capelet

Have you got Wedding Fever? It seems where I am it’s wedding after wedding this year, which is great, especially given that the weather has decided to be so co-operative this year 🙂 Sunny weather also makes the life of a wedding guest so much easier when it comes to picking out your outfit. But even on the warmest summer day, it’s still sensible to bring along a little shoulder cover-up and for the last 2 weddings I attended, I have turned to my ever faithful Aurora Lace Capelet.

If you head over and buy the pattern on Ravelry before July 2nd you can get 20% off the pattern by using the coupon code SUMMER LACE at the check-out

I have 2 Auroras and I can tell you. they are an absolute Godsend for weddings and outdoors-dressy summer events. Unlike a shawl there’s no worrying about it staying put and looking stylish throughout the day as it buttons delicately at the neck and leaves your arms and hands free for photo taking, eating, drinking, dancing etc . The lace is open enough to not distract from your main outfit at all too. You will simply forget you are wearing it.

They are also very quick to knit as they are essentially just a very small shawl – my pink one was knit in gorgeous Manos del Uruguay laceweight and took just over haf a skein (around 260 yds) which in my book is also a bonus for anyone searching for the ideal cover-up for any up-coming wedding or garden party this summer. (It also folds up into a tiny little square which slips into even my smallest clutch bag – which I consider a fabulous bonus)

I hope you enjoy knitting yourself, or someone you know an Aurora Lace Capelet this summer
